BAS workpapers, drafted and checked for review

Nagaris drafts a full, reviewer-ready BAS workpaper for each client's Xero file, with every label traced to its transactions and every issue explained, so your team spends minutes reviewing instead of hours preparing. It costs $15 a BAS.

What you get

Nagaris produces a full BAS workpaper, not only a total, in a consistent format for every client's Xero file. It's drafted, checked and waiting for a reviewer. The preparer's hours of reconciling labels and writing notes become a reviewer's minutes of checking.

How a quarter runs

  1. The workpaper is drafted. Nagaris reads the client's Xero file and builds the workpaper, covering GST, PAYG, fuel tax credits and WET.
  2. Unreconciled lines hold it. While bank lines are unreconciled, the BAS is held.
  3. Issues are flagged and explained. Each flag comes with the likely cause and a suggested fix.
  4. Client questions go out. Anything only the client can answer is sent by SMS, WhatsApp or email, with reminders.
  5. Answers come back to the workpaper. Replies and uploaded photos file themselves on the client and the BAS workpaper.
  6. Review. The reviewer clicks any figure to see the transactions behind it, checks the flags, and signs off.

Why traced labels matter

Reviewing a BAS usually means working back from a label to the transactions behind it. With every label traced, the reviewer clicks the figure and sees them. A consistent format across every client also means a reviewer isn't relearning each preparer's layout.

The workpaper is prepared for review by your team. Lodgement decisions and the advice behind them stay with the registered agent.

Who it's for

Firms with a book of quarterly or monthly BAS clients on Xero, where preparation time is the bottleneck in the weeks before each due date. It's also useful for firms that want every client's BAS prepared to the same standard, whoever on the team picks it up.

How it connects to the rest of Nagaris

Questions to clients use Client Queries, so answers arrive on the workpaper without a portal login. BAS jobs sit on the Services list, where the With Client view shows which ones are waiting on answers. Texts go from the firm's shared SMS number. For a manual prep routine to compare against, use the BAS preparation checklist, and for wording when you need information from clients, the client request message templates.

What it costs

$15 a BAS, charged on usage. There's no separate subscription for the BAS tool.
